Probate Fee Calculator

Here is a calculator to assist you in estimating attorney’s fees and personal representative compensation for the probate process in California. This calculator can be used for the probate administration of estates with a gross value over $166,250 but less than $25,000,000. Any amounts above $25,000,000 are a reasonable fee amount to be determined by the court.

To use this calculator, enter an estimate for the property subject to probate administration that is made up of the gross value of the estate. Example, a home with a fair market value of $500,000 (even if there is a mortgage on the home, use the fair market value) and a checking account with $100,000. Total estimated gross value of estate is $600,000 that would be put into the calculator below to get an estimate on fees.

The total fees calculated above do not include probate costs which are made up of filings fees, bonds, publication and other costs.

*This probate fee calculator is for informational purposes only. It should not be considered nor relied on in place of legal advice and is only a general estimate based on California Probate Code Section 10810’s general provisions and is not fact specific. This includes compensation of attorney and personal representative.
